In Memoriam: Former Mazzoni Staffer Roger Armstrong, 54

 Former Mazzoni Center staff member, Roger Daniel Armstrong, 54, died peacefully on Saturday, October 14, 2017 surrounded by his wife Cathy Lopez and his loved ones.  He is survived by his sister, Bonnie Cusatis, mother-in-law Rita (Sal), stepsons Zac and Elijah, sister-in-laws Beth (Alex), Teri (Eric), brother-in-laws Tim (Sandy), Jeff (Adrienna) and numerous nieces and nephews.
 
Roger was born in Washington, DC on July 25, 1963.  He grew up in suburban Philadelphia and graduated from Pennsylvania State University. 
 
Roger worked at Mazzoni Center (then known as AIDS Task Force of Philadelphia) in the early 1990s serving as the Associate Director. He later relocated to Denver to continue his work in the HIV/AIDS field at Colorado AIDS Project.  He was the Executive Director of the Temple Events Center hosting many community events and later joined the Capitol Hill United Neighborhoods as the Director, and then Executive Director, serving for 9 years.  He served on several boards and committees and was dedicated to the community. 
 
Aside from his numerous accomplishments, Roger was a gentle, kind, and humble friend to many.  He loved softball, cooking, his hometown of Philly, traveling, beaches, and scuba diving.  He will be sorely missed by many.
