R Perry Monastero
As Director of Development and Marketing, R Perry Monastero serves as Mazzoni Center’s chief advancement officer and works with a terrific team of marketing and fundraising professionals. Originally from Norristown, Pennsylvania, Perry returned to live in Philadelphia 20 years ago and has worked with Mazzoni Center since 2009. Perry earned his doctorate in education at the University of Pennsylvania and focused his research on social justice movements and the ability of new organizations to enter a competitive marketplace for funding within a movement. Perry has 24 years of full-time experience working in the nonprofit field, including five years as the Executive Director of the Delaware Valley Legacy Fund (DVLF) at The Philadelphia Foundation. He has served as the first grants manager for the national private consulting firm, Wellspring Advisors, LLC and was an institutional researcher and administrative fellow at the University of Pennsylvania prior to entering the philanthropic world in 2002. His current nonprofit volunteer involvement includes serving as Secretary of the Board of the Center for Responsible Funding, Board Vice President of OPAL (Out Philadelphia Athletic Leagues), and he sits on the planned giving committee of DVLF.
