Professional Development Specialist

This position is housed in the Education Department of Mazzoni Center and will work primarily within the education team to develop and facilitate LGBTQ competency trainings with a focus on trauma-informed care within organizations, schools, and healthcare settings. The goal of this position is to create a broad, LGBTQ-competent resource network to ensure that LGBTQ survivors of sexual assault feel safe and supported in accessing those services and to increase competence in responding to the particular needs of survivors of sexual assault.

Key Responsibilities:

General

  • Develop and facilitate LGBTQ+ competency trainings with a focus on trauma-informed care within healthcare organizations, businesses, schools, and other settings, including therapists, law enforcement, district attorneys, and court systems
  • Collaborate with Department of Justice and Women Organized Against Rape to develop, facilitate and update professional development curriculum as needed
  • Solicit and incorporate feedback from the trainings in order to develop an integrated training for external audiences
  • Design, write and develop instructional materials; create interactive and engaging course content & build effective learning experiences for the professional development program
  • Maintain all communications with individuals or institutions who request trainings, ensuring all necessary information is approved by both parties including training content, scheduling, presenter information, training requirements, cost, etc.
  • Coordinate all relevant materials necessary for NASW CME accreditation for all education department events
  • Responsible for maintaining all CME and CE documentation and reports, as determined by Education Manager
  • Support internal professional development programming
  • Assist with administrative duties for the Philadelphia Trans Wellness Conference, as determined by Education Manager
  • Support Education Manager in Grant Data Management and provide ongoing program evaluation
  • Collect and maintain professional development documentation including sign-in sheets, evaluations, and program assessments
  • Provide prearranged reports detailing trainings to Education Manager on a consistent basis, scheduled with Education Manager

Communications

  • Maintain all communications with individuals or institutions who request trainings, ensuring all necessary information is approved by both parties including training content, scheduling, presenter information, training requirements, cost, etc.
  • Collaborate with professionals within organization when appropriate to develop effective, quality trainings

Logistics

  • Manage all scheduling of professional development events and trainings applicable to established goals and objectives
  • Coordinate with organizations and organize all equipment and educational materials needed for trainings
  • Responsible for ongoing contact with the Department of Justice Grant Manager

Administrative

  • Collect and maintain all professional development documentation including sign-in sheets, evaluations, and program assessments
  • Maintain CME and CE documentation and reports to governing body
  • Provide prearranged reports detailing trainings to Education Director on a consistent basis
  • Other duties as assigned by Education Director and Professional Development Team

Education, Training, License and Certification, Skills and Experience

  • Advanced degree (Associates, Bachelors, Graduate Level) in Social Justice, Social Work, Counseling or Education or equivalent experience serving underserved communities
  • Experience with program development and evaluation
  • Experience with grant writing and data management
  • Familiarity with CME and CE requirements and procedures
  • Bilingual Preferred

Clearances

  • Background checks are required, including Criminal Background Clearance, Child Abuse Clearance, and FBI Clearance.

Physical Requirements

  • The ability to stand, sit and walk for extended periods of time
  • The ability to lift objects greater than 35 pounds
  • The ability to communicate using written and spoken words
  • Must have all necessary vaccinations
  • Annual PPD

Salary

Salary starts at $40,000
