CDC approves booster vaccines for Moderna and Johnson & Johnson. Here's what you need to know.
Johnson & Johnson
Anyone (whatever their age or health condition) who received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine is now recommended to have a second shot if it has been two months since the first. Remember Johnson & Johnson was approved for people over 18 years of age.
Moderna
For Moderna, a booster shot is recommended for people who are:
- 65 years and older
- Age 18+ who live in long-term care settings
- Age 18+ who have underlying medical conditions
- Age 18+ who work or live in high-risk settings
Also, the CDC says it is ok to choose a different vaccine for your booster if you prefer. Please talk with your healthcare provider for more information.
