Countdown to the 2016 Trans Health Conference is on
The 15th annual Philadelphia Trans Health Conference is less than one month away!
Last summer we welcomed more than 4,000 attendees from all over the country and the world to the Pennsylvania Convention Center over the course of three days.
This year’s event takes place June 9-11 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, and we’ve got a diverse and dynamic lineup of approximately 230 workshops lined up for the general track of the conference - which is FREE to attend. (Click here to view General Conference schedule).
Our professional track continues to grow, and this year features two full days of workshops for medical providers, mental/behavioral health providers, as well as legal service providers, with professional credits (CMEs, CEUs, CLEs) available in all three tracks. For more info. on the professional track click here.
Among the highlights of the 2016 conference will be our lively and diverse line of plenary speakers. Thursday’s plenary will address the theme of “Heritage/Celebrating our history and ancestors,” while Friday’s will focus on “Legacy/What Does It Look Like When We Win.”
This year we’re proud to be presenting the first-ever Charlene Arcila Pioneer Award, named in memory of the much-admired community activist who was one of the original founders of the conference back in 2002, and who remained involved as a leader and volunteer with the conference for many years. The list of nominees for this award will be read during our plenary on Thursday June 9, 2015 at 1:00 pm in RM 119A; and the winner will be announced Friday June 10, 2016 at 1:00pm in RM 119A.
There are also great evening and community events our attendees have come to look forward to – including the Opening Reception at Voyeur on Thursday, June 9 from 6-8PM; the Friday Shabbat Dinner (Friday, June 10); and the Parents Meet & Greet Pool Party (Friday, June 10). There’s a dedicated youth space for those aged 13 to 24 featuring games and interactive programs (open all three days). And much, much more.
The mission of the Philadelphia Trans Health Conference is to educate and empower trans individuals on issues of health and well-being; educate and inform allies and health service providers; and facilitate networking, community-building, and systemic change. We strive to create an accessible and respectful environment that is inclusive of diverse gender-identities and expressions as well as inclusive of diverse opinions and ideas.
Now in its fifteenth year, the conference proudly offers a space for trans people and our allies, families, and providers to come together to re-envision what health means for trans people. We’ve been thrilled to see the conference grow and evolve to meet the needs of diverse audiences, from youth to seniors, community activists to legal and medical professionals, and so many others.
