LGBTQ+ Interpersonal Violence - NASW Continuing Education Credits
LGBTQ+ Interpersonal Violence - NASW Continuing Education Credits
This in-person course will focus on building skills to support queer and trans folks who have experienced interpersonal violence (IPV). Consider attending if you are a professional in any field who serves LGBTQ+ survivors of violence. Counselors, therapists, lawyers, healthcare workers, case managers, teachers, and victim advocates are strongly encouraged to attend. Please note, this is an intermediate/advanced course; attendees should already have a strong understanding of LGBTQ+ identities and communities.
(If you are unsure about your competency level, we have a free opportunity to take our LGBTQ+ Fundamentals Training on October 4th from 2pm - 4pm virtually via Zoom. Reach out to [email protected] to sign up for that training)
Participants will be able to:
- Identify the impact of interpersonal violence on the LGBTQ+ community
- Understand how homophobia, transphobia and biphobia affects IPV tactics and barriers to care
- Discover best practices for serving LGBTQ+ survivors of interpersonal violence
- Practice LGBTQ+ competent responses to disclosures of interpersonal violence from queer and trans folks
This program is Approved by the National Association of Social Workers (Approval # 886804577-1457) for 3 continuing education contact hours.
