Adam Ouanes is in his final year at Bryn Mawr College Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research earning his Master of Social Service. He also holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from The University of the Arts as an actor with a focus on classical text. He is interested in a creative approach to healing that merges artistic expression with a therapeutic skill set. A primary focus of Adam’s work is looking at the inherent challenges faced by the LGBTQ community due to collective trauma. From substance abuse/addiction, loneliness, grief and other difficulties, Adam is driven to help community members find a sense of peace and security through a trauma informed approach. Adam’s therapeutic work with clients is also informed by past experiences as a hospice volunteer and peer counselor. Additionally, Adam has worked as a social work intern at The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania helping patients connect to life-saving services.
