Jack Cooper

Food Bank Coordinator

Jack Cooper was born and raised near Fort Worth, Texas. He moved to Philly via Atlanta, Georgia twenty years ago, and considers himself a proud Philadelphian. A Hufflepuff through-and-through - Jack values loyalty, trustworthiness, kindness, justice, and humility above all else. His top three role models are his grandmother Gracie Lee Cannon (Mamaw), Mr. Rogers, and E.T the extraterrestrial, in that order.

Though he prefers British humor over American humor as a general rule, his favorite funny movies are Mel Brook’s Young Frankenstein and the Christopher Guest movie, Best in Show.

Jack is a writer, a story teller, and a lifelong, avid reader – he almost always has some kind of literature on his night table. If he could recommend just two books for everyone to read, he would say Jean-Dominique Bauby’s The Diving Bell and The Butterfly, and  Razor Wire Dharma, by Calvin Malone.

Jack loves a wide range of music - particularly Blues and classic Country and Western, as well as anything by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, but all you really need to know about him can be discovered by listening to the first two B-52s albums on repeat.

In his spare time, Jack enjoys cooking and eating, laughing with his wife, Jess, cultivating and maintaining his meditation practice, taking care of his houseplants, and hanging out with his Australian Cattle dog, Lola. Jack’s dislikes include tuna melts, Cheerios, baseball, and the musical group, Steely Dan. Jack is super excited to serve the community as a part of Mazzoni’s Care Services team, and looks forward to many adventures in his role at the Food Bank.
