Jay Alston (he/him/his) is a graduate of the University of Delaware with a degree in Marketing and Sexuality & Gender Studies. While a student, Jay participated in Hilton Worldwide's internship program and served as the head of several campus organizations championing equity and inclusion for LGBTQ and QTPOC students. In 2017, Jay began working at Mazzoni Center in the Development and Marketing Department. He later transitioned to the events department where, in his current role, Jay is responsible for applying innovative technology solutions for social good. He coordinates technology and data for Mazzoni Center's events, including the Philadelphia Trans Wellness Conference where he oversees exhibitor table purchases, registration payments, and the conference mobile app. Jay also serves as the manager of Mazzoni Center's staff softball team, the Bad News Queers.
Outside of Mazzoni Center, Jay serves as a board of directors member for Campus Pride, a national organization empowering LGBTQ student leaders and influencing higher education policy change for equity and inclusion. He is also a member of the first ever cohort of LGBTQ Leadership Pipeline participants through the City of Philadelphia Mayor’s Office of LGBT Affairs. In July of 2019, Jay was appointed by the Mayor of Philadelphia to the Mayor’s Commission for LGBT Affairs, whose role it is to advise the Mayor on policies that support LGBTQ Philadelphians. Jay is a Cancer sun, Taurus moon, and Libra rising who is a big fan of knitting, video games, and cooking for friends.
