Nikele Riek LSW
Nikele is a licensed social worker who earned their Master’s degree in Social Work from Loyola University Chicago and their undergraduate degree in Gender and Women’s Studies/ Sociology from the University of Illinois at Chicago. While studying social work, Nikele also received a Master’s degree in Social Justice and Community Development which further emphasizes the social work values of social justice, advocacy, and the use of community and human relationships in the healing process.
Nikele’s clinical background is almost exclusively within the LGBTQ community, and as a member of the transgender community, Nikele has a unique take on how transitions, big and small, impact our daily lives. Aside from transitions, their other interests include trauma healing, mind/body connection, community engagement, and mindfulness.
Nikele’s work is rooted in the belief that every person has something to contribute, yet due to fear, trauma, oppression, unrealistic societal expectations, and other barriers, far too many people are left feeling isolated and inadequate.
Nikele aspires to create a therapeutic setting in which individuals feel free to explore, discover, and express their true selves and find or strengthen their connection to the larger community.
