Training for Medical Professionals

Mazzoni Center trainings are tailored to meet the specific needs of each requesting site. Our medical trainings can be designed for doctors, nurses, physician’s assistants, phlebotomists, front desk staff, medical students, etc., or for providers in non-medical settings seeking medical information about LGBTQ communities. Learning objectives include but are not limited to:

  • Differentiate among the categories of sex at birth, gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation
  • Establish a working knowledge of LGBTQ terminology and identities
  • Establish proficient knowledge in HIV/STD prevention
  • Understand the differences between medical, legal, and social transitions for transgender and gender non-conforming (TGNC) individuals
  • Apply 3 clinical tools for improving services for TGNC patients using case examples
  • Demonstrate new skill sets for reducing health disparities among TGNC communities
