Announcement: Anneliese A. Singh Will Be PTWC 2019 Professional Track Keynote Speaker
We are pleased to announce Anneliese A. Singh will be the Professional Track Keynote Speaker at the 2019 Philadelphia Trans Wellness Conference, to be held this year July 25-27 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in downtown Philadelphia.
Singh’s keynote address, “Trans Liberation is for Everybody: Moving from Affirmative to Liberatory Counseling with All Genders,” will explore the need to move beyond affirmative approaches to trans and nonbinary counseling approaches to healing that is grounded in liberation, justice, and co-conspirator goals.
We will announce when the Keynote will take place at the conference in the coming weeks, along with other speakers announcments.
Anneliese A. Singh is an Professor at The University of Georgia and serves in the role as Associate Dean for the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Dr. Singh co-founded the Georgia Safe Schools Coalition to support LGBTQ+ students at the intersection of sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, race/ethnicity, disability, class, and other identities and experiences. Dr. Singh founded the Trans Resilience Project to translate her research over the last 15 years on the resilience that trans and nonbinary people develop to resist discrimination and move toward liberation. Dr. Singh is a co-PI on the first NIH-funded longitudinal, multi-site (Atlanta, New York, San Francisco) study of transgender and nonbinary risk and resilience, called Project AFFIRM. Dr. Singh is a faculty member with the Counseling and Student Personnel Services, Ph.D. program (Gwinnett), School Counseling and Professional Counseling, M.Ed. programs, and an affiliate facutly with the Counseling Psychology Ph.D. program and Qualitative Research program.
