Parent Support Group: Parents of Youth Ages 12 and Under

A welcoming support group for parents of trans and non binary youth ages 12 and under. We will share experiences, get support, meet other parents, and share good resources. Trans Youth Equality Foundation has been holding support groups at Philly and throughout the country for about a decade. Please join us.

About the presenters

Susan Maasch,Youth Advocate and Director of Trans Youth Equality Foundation

Susan Maasch is the Director of the Trans Youth Equality Foundation which supports over 1500 trans youth each year. She belongs to a consortium of providers, where resources and best practices are shared. She founded a popular overnight camp for trans youth. She helped develop support groups for parents and youth around the country. She trains schools in best practices and develops resources shared to a wide audience of youth, providers and families. Along with GLAD she developed a resource for youth about safety when protesting and trans. She is mom to a trans son now in college.

Stephen Alexander

Stephen Alexander is a social worker, advocate and coach developing programs for trans youth at schools and camps. He is program Director at TYEF Summer Camp and co leads support groups for TYEF. An educator with degrees in psychology, religious studies, social work and special education, Stephen works with K-12 students and their parents as a teacher, tutor, and mentor. He also works with administrators, coaches, social service agencies and religious institutions. His focus is diversity. He is an out and proud transgender man.
