It's official: Mazzoni Center’s annual celebration and fundraiser, Elixir: the Cure for the Common Gala, will take place Friday, May 19, 2017 in the Lubert Plaza, a beautiful outdoor space at the heart of Jefferson’s Center City campus between Locust and Walnut and 10th and 11th Streets. This year's event will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., with a special VIP reception from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

I’ve been in Philly for about two years, and as much as I have come to enjoy my time here my heart will forever be with my home state of Florida - especially with the city of Orlando where I was a faithful resident for five formative years. Orlando was where I completed my undergrad career, and also became the place where I truly found myself and fully explored a burgeoning queer identity which has become a huge part of all of the beautiful things that make me who I am today.

Bill Paszek grew up in an era when HIV/AIDS was a deadly diagnosis and recalls the atmosphere of fear and anger he felt in the 1980s and 90s. “I was a teenager,” he says, “and it left a lasting impression on me.” 
 
Bill attended his first Mazzoni fundraiser six years ago, and began to learn about our history: that Mazzoni Center was the oldest HIV/AIDS organization in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and the fourth oldest in the United States.
