Mazzoni Center is proud to present our third annual panel for Sexual Assault Awareness Month featuring three wonderful trans survivors. Our panelists will be discussing their stories of sexual violence, how themes of solidarity and strength have impacted them, and give insight as to how we can better support trans survivors. Sylvia Eve
she/her
Sylvia Vanessa Eve is a 42 year old African American transgender woman living in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with mental health issues and who is in recovery. She is very grateful to be participating in the panel. She has been sexually assaulted 5 times in her lifetime. She is currently in therapy for mental wellness and she is very active in various communities.

Leia Gabriele
she/her
Leia (she/her) is a 24 year old trans woman living in her childhood town in Bucks County. In her free time, she enjoys crocheting, writing comics with her boyfriend, and staying up far too late playing games. She is fascinated by cognitive and computer science, and looks forwards to returning to her education in these fields at Johns Hopkins University this summer.

Ari Gewirtzman
he/they
Ari is an LGBTQIA+ and labor rights activist who goes by he/they pronouns and identifies as a queer, transgender, Jewish, and disabled survivor of gender-based violence. Having worked for nonprofit and university DEI programs, Ari is interested in teaching tolerance and facilitating identity exploration. Their award-winning research has focused on pre-colonial gender systems, economic influences on sexual violence, and equity in accessing gender-affirming medicine.
