Board Member Since 2024

Jim Hoelz has been an emergency nurse for 40 years, with experience as a staff nurse, charge nurse, manager, director, and nurse practitioner.  For the last 20 years, he has worked as a consultant, traveling around the world, assisting emergency departments in optimizing performance, improving patient care and developing strong leaders.  He is the former owner of Blue Jay Consulting and is now the Founder and CEO of Hoelz Healthcare Consulting, a firm that specializes in leadership mentoring and creating healthy workplace environments.  Jim is an out and proud member of the LGBTQ+ community and he and his husband, Bill, have been together for over 32 years.  They have a daughter and two grandchildren.

Why did you choose to become a member of the Mazzoni Center Board?

As a younger gay man, I did not always had the support I would have liked to be comfortable with my sexuality and my true identity.  My reason for joining the Mazzoni Center Board is to use my life experience and my healthcare background to give back to my community.
