Behavioral Health Services At Mazzoni Center
At Mazzoni Center, we integrate behavioral health into primary care to support the whole person. Our Behavioral Health team provides brief consultations with Behavioral Health Consultants located in the medical center, individual and group psychotherapy through our outpatient program, and medication management through our psychiatrist. Our care is affirmative, sex-positive, culturally humble, rooted in harm reduction, and focused on supporting patient self-determination.
Eligibility for Services
Behavioral Health Consultations are available to all patients receiving medical care at Mazzoni Center, regardless of insurance. Behavioral Health Consultants are licensed mental health providers who are available to help patients with mental and behavioral health concerns. They are available for mental health support on the same day as medical appointments for any patient seeking care.
Outpatient behavioral health services, including long-term psychotherapy, are limited to patients who are engaged in Mazzoni Center’s primary care program and who are uninsured or covered by Medicaid, Medicare, or Ryan White programs.
Currently, we do not accept private or commercial insurance for outpatient behavioral health services. Psychiatry services are available by referral from a medical or mental health provider when medication may be helpful, with care provided by our psychiatrist in collaboration with primary care providers.
Services Offered
Behavioral Health Consultations include short-term, individualized behavioral health interventions focused on issues like stress, anxiety, and chronic health conditions, with referrals to external providers when appropriate.
Outpatient Behavioral Health services consist of long-term psychotherapy for eligible primary care patients, typically initiated through a referral made during a medical appointment by a Behavioral Health Consultant.
Psychiatry services include evaluations and medication management tailored to individual needs, with referrals made by a staff medical or mental health provider.
