Simon Says: A time to be thankful.

Next week, many of us across the country will take some time to celebrate the Thanksgiving Holiday, and to mark the occasion, Mazzoni Center will pause our operations on Thursday, 27th, and Friday, 28th November.

While there are a variety of traditions associated with this holiday, activities that focus on gratitude are often at the center. It is common for people to pause at this time and reflect upon and share things they appreciate, or for which they are thankful.

A few years ago, inspired by a friend, I adopted a practice of documenting every day, one thing for which I was thankful, and I continued the practice for one year. There were no “rules” for the process, and therefore some of the elements I noted were very simple, while others were far more meaningful. One thing I noted though was that appreciation for aspects of my health often featured.

Our quality of life can so easily be impacted by changes in our own physical and mental health and well-being, and in the health and well-being of those to whom we are close.

At Mazzoni Center, we are truly grateful for the trust that our patients and clients place in us to support their health and well-being journeys.

On a personal level, I am thankful for the opportunity to work with a great team of people, whom I know remain absolutely committed to delivering on our mission to provide quality comprehensive health and wellness services in an LGBTQ+ focused environment, to preserve the dignity and improve the quality of life of all those we serve.

However you may be marking next week's holiday, I wish you a peaceful and restful time.
