Kim Petras is a German singer, songwriter, and pop artist known for her work in the electronic and pop music genres. She became internationally known in her late teens not only for her music but also for being one of the youngest people to undergo gender confirmation surgery at the age of 16, a significant moment in her personal journey as a transgender woman.

Kim grew up in a supportive family and pursued her passion for music from a young age. At 13, she began to publicly discuss her identity and gained media attention for her transition, which helped raise awareness about transgender issues.

Kim Petras achieved mainstream recognition when she collaborated with pop and hip-hop artist Sam Smith on the single "Unholy" in 2022. The song became a massive hit, reaching global charts and earning Kim her first Grammy Award in 2023 for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, making her the first openly transgender woman to win in this category.

Beyond music, Kim is a vocal advocate for transgender rights and LGBTQ+ visibility. She uses her platform to inspire others, advocating for self-expression and being unapologetic about one's identity.
