A Client Crafts Love for the Mazzoni Center Staff

As Valentine’s Day approached this past February, David Weisberg, Mazzoni Center’s Executive Development & Communications Officer, was contacted by Avery, a Mazzoni Center client, with a special proposal. Avery, who has a passion for crochet, wished to express thanks to the Center’s team by crafting unique and beautiful valentines for every member of the 130-staff team.

"The staff did wonderful work, and I wanted to find a way to thank them, and spread a little joy to the Mazzoni Center and LGBTQIA+ community. I know that different holidays can be difficult for many of us, so I wanted to put together a few valentines so people know someone is thinking about them. I am a crafter so my valentines turned out to be rainbow and trans colored crocheted hearts. I really hope it brightened a few folks' days."

According to David, who had the honor of delivering the valentines, Avery’s effort brought countless smiles – and even a few tears – to Mazzoni Center staff. “It was such a beautiful gesture,” said David. “Today, as I walk around the Center, I continue to see staff with their crocheted valentines hanging in their offices. I know that having such a sense of appreciation, gratitude, and love means the world to our team.”
